Artist Bio: Pezo Von Ellrichshausen

Pezo Von Ellrichshausen (Concepcion, Chile)

Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen are the principals in Pezo von Ellrichshausen, an architecture firm from Concepcion, Chile.  They’ve been awarded the Best Work Of Young Architects prize at the V Ibero American Biennial (Montevideo, 2006), the Architectural Quality Prize at the XV Chilean Architecture Biennial (Santiago, 2006) and the Commended Prize at the AR Awards For Emerging Architecture (London, 2005).

Their work has been included in publications such as HATCH: The New Architectural Generation (London, 2009), Key Contemporary Buildings (London, 2008) and Architecture Now Volume 5 (Koln, 2007) – and has been shown in exhibitions such as Freshlatino (Hamburg, 2009), Building Dwelling Thinking (Valencia, 2008) and Visions Of Latin American Architecture (New York, 2007).

Mauricio Pezo completed a Masters in Architecture in the Catholic University of Chile (Santiago, 1998) and graduated from the University of Bio-Bio with a degree in Architecture (Concepcion, 1999). He currently teaches at the School of Architecture of the University of Bio-Bio, at the University of Texas at Austin and was a Visiting Critic at AAP Cornell University in 2009. He has been awarded the Best Young Chilean Architect Prize by the Chilean Architects Association (Santiago, 2006).

Sofia von Ellrichshausen holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires, 2002). She currently teaches at the School of Architecture of the University of Texas at Austin and was a Visiting Critic at AAP Cornell University in 2009. She was awarded the Honors Diploma by the FADU UBA (Buenos Aires, 2002).
